UnzipDeck legal document
Terms of Use
Software license, responsibility for the files you process, prohibited uses, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute handling.
Version 1.0 (Initial Release) · Effective on first public release
1. Agreement and provider
These Terms are between you and Xinxiang Kewoku Software Development Co., Ltd., a company registered in China, referred to as “we,” and govern the UnzipDeck app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac and its on-device features. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law and acknowledge the Privacy Policy.
When the App is obtained through Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard EULA also applies unless we provide a valid Custom EULA. These Terms describe our product service and do not reduce mandatory rights under the Apple agreement or consumer law.
2. License
Subject to these Terms and Apple's Usage Rules, we grant you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, and revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded products you own or control. You may not copy, redistribute, sublicense, bypass security measures, reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works except where applicable law or an open-source license expressly permits it.
3. Service and current scope
The App provides local file browsing and organization, archive creation and extraction, password entry and password remembering for encrypted archives, split volumes and nested extraction, extraction integrity checks, image and PDF thumbnails, QuickLook preview, and media playback with a system engine or a VLC engine, along with appearance settings. Available features depend on device hardware, system version, region, system permissions, and App version.
No registration or login is required. The current release contains no account, cloud sync, advertising, or in-app purchase, and it does not upload user files to our servers. We may adjust the feature scope before or after release, and the updated product page and in-App information will govern.
4. Your files and content
You retain any rights you lawfully hold in the files, archives, and content you process, and you are responsible for their legality, origin, and use. Make sure you have the right to access, copy, extract, modify, play, or distribute the files involved, including any third-party works, personal information, trade secrets, or other protected content they contain.
You are responsible for your own operations on the device and their results, including creating and extracting archives, looking after passwords, moving or deleting files, and exporting or sharing files with others.
5. Compression, extraction, and data-safety limits
Compression and extraction can fail, finish partially, or produce unexpected results because of a damaged file, a wrong password, an unsupported format, insufficient storage, an interrupted system process, or a power loss. Integrity checks and extraction results are provided for reference and do not replace your own review of important files.
Deleting the source archive after a successful extraction and deleting files inside the App cannot be undone, so confirm that you have kept the copies you need first. The security of an encrypted archive depends on the algorithm and password strength you choose; keep the password yourself. We cannot recover a forgotten password or decrypt your archive.
We hold no copy of your files. Device damage or loss, system failure, deleting the App, or an accidental deletion can make files unrecoverable, so keep independent backups of anything important.
6. Media playback and preview
Playback and preview are provided by system frameworks, the system playback engine, or the VLC engine. The exact features and supported formats for subtitles, playback speed, Picture in Picture, and AirPlay depend on the system version and playback engine involved, and we do not guarantee that a specific format, codec, or subtitle file will play.
Make sure you have the right to play the content and comply with the license terms of the content provider.
7. Prohibited uses
Use the App lawfully. Do not use it to infringe copyrights, trademarks, patents, privacy, image rights, or other rights; to handle or distribute malicious code, unlawful content, or data you have no right to hold; to bypass technical protection measures or access controls; to attack, disrupt, or attempt unauthorized access to another person's device, system, network, or service; to commit fraud, harassment, or surveillance, or otherwise harm the rights of others; or to abuse features through automation or to circumvent system permission limits.
8. Local data, backups, and uninstalling
App preferences, playback records, and remembered passwords are stored on the device. Uninstalling the App deletes that data and the files inside the App sandbox. Files you saved in the system Files app or elsewhere are not affected and must be managed by you.
Export or back up anything you need to keep before deleting the App, changing devices, or taking another action that may affect local data.
9. Apple and other external services
App Store distribution, the system file picker, QuickLook, photo-library writing, AirPlay, and iCloud are provided by Apple and may change or become unavailable because of the system, account, network, region, or Apple's policies. Apple's applicable terms and privacy rules also apply.
We, not Apple, are responsible for the App. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support except as required by the applicable EULA. When you export content to a third-party app, cloud drive, or other service, that provider is responsible for it.
10. Open-source software and intellectual property
The App's software, interface design, text, graphics, trademarks, and branding are owned by us or their respective rights holders. Open-source components such as libarchive, unrar, VLCKit, and GRDB remain governed by their own licenses; component names, purposes, and license information are listed in the Open-source Notices. We may use product feedback to improve the service, but this does not transfer your rights in your files or other content.
11. Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided “as is.” We do not warrant that the App is error-free or uninterrupted, that it is compatible with every file format or device, that any file will compress, extract, preview, or play correctly, or that deleted data can be recovered. You decide whether to keep a backup before processing important files.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible beyond legally required limits for loss caused by file damage or loss, accidental deletion, a forgotten password, device or system failure, insufficient storage, a third-party service interruption, use outside the App's intended purpose, or another event outside our reasonable control. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect loss, loss of profit, or data loss.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury where exclusion is prohibited, or any nonwaivable consumer right.
13. Updates and availability
We may maintain, fix, improve, add, or discontinue a feature, and may change system-version or device requirements, for security, compatibility, legal, or product reasons. We will provide information about material changes when reasonably practicable. An update will not begin materially different personal-information processing without the notice or consent required by law.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China without overriding mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live. Contact support@kewoku.com first to seek a practical resolution. An unresolved dispute may be brought before a court with lawful jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these Terms and contact
We may update these Terms as the product and legal requirements change and will update the version number at the same time. An updated version applies from publication or the effective date it states. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide a prominent notice and obtain your consent again where required by law.
